Happy Monday Lovely! A few weeks ago my parents came for their second annual Denver spring visit and since Pikes Peak was still covered in snow (which meant we couldn’t drive to the top) we decided to visit Seven Falls in Colorado Springs. Despite having been to Colorado Springs a handful of times since living in Denver, I had not yet had the opportunity to visit.
Parking is located at The Broadmoor Hotel East lot. Once off the exit, there are quite a few signs along the road to ensure you’re headed in the right direction. The address: just off of Lake Ave at 6 Lake Ave. Colorado Springs, CO. 80906. Parking is free! The free shuttle picks you up right across the street from the parking lot to the ticket booth. You can check out ticket prices here. From the ticket booth there is a paved road that leads to the base of the falls. A tram is also available for those unable/not wanting to walk. It’s just under a mile from the ticket booth to the base of the falls. This is where Restaurant 1858 sits with a great view of the falls. From here, you begin the climb up the stairs to the top of the falls. Along the way are placards describing the different types of water falls. Once on top, there are options for two short and “easy” hikes either Midnight Falls Loop which is .7 miles or Inspiration Point which is out and back totally 1.5 miles OR you can combine the two hikes for a round trip hike of about 3 miles. The views from the trail were definitely worth the trip! On our way back down we stopped for coffee and iced tea to enjoy outside in the rocking chairs overlooking the base of the falls. Overall, it was a fun experience and a quick hike that the whole family can enjoy. Just remember, if you’re not used to the altitude, drink LOTS of water!!
This was a “warm up” for our Mt. Sanitas hike in Boulder the next day. 🙂 Have you been to 7 falls? What did you think?
